The city of Cambridge is widely known all over the earth for being the home of the University of Cambridge, one of the world’s finest. The University has a total of some thirty one colleges including; Hughes Hall, Jesus College, King’s College and Lucy Cavendish College which greatly effect the city. Even though a large number of folk arrive in Cambridge with their main wish being to view the University, Cambridge has many more attractions besides the University. The city is an ancient town dating back to the medieval period and subsequently there is a wealth of exquisite architecture. The city is also well known for its churches, with 13 of them being located within the city boundaries. Of the 13 churches found in the centre of Cambridge it is All Saints Church which is usually accepted as one of the most incredible samples of Gothic revival architecture in the country. Another church of importance is Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is one of only 4 circular Norman churches found in the country. The tiniest of Cambridge’s churches is St Peter’s, which hides in a tranquil part of the town centre. Probably the most breathtaking panoramas of the city of Cambridge and colleges of the University can be experienced from the site of the University church.
As there is a vast array of visitor attractions available in Cambridge, it would be nearly impossible to visit all of them in a single day. We therefore advise that you stay for a minimum of forty eight hours in Cambridge. If you are in the process of thinking about spending a few weeks in the city of Cambridge it is immensely important that you book your lodgings at the earliest opportunity because, sadly hotel accommodation in Cambridge tend to be surprisingly busy and are frequently fully booked for weeks or even months in advance. If you are travelling in a large group you may find that Cambridge apartment accommodation prove to be less expensive option.
