Less Planes Flying Makes It Harder To Use Your Airline Miles Credit Card

Recently the airlines have started lowering the amount of daily flights they have. The main cause of this is high gas prices which are just crippling the whole airline industry. Gone are the days when you would see a flight half full of passengers. The airlines came to their senses finally and knew they could not stay in business sending anything less than a full plane. Many airlines had two or more flights a day that left from one destination to another. The whole idea behind this was to cater to the needs of the passenger and be flexible with scheduling. This is happening no more. Now you will see one flight there a day and its going to be full.

Less planes in the air means less delays because there are going to be less planes flying into a airport. The biggest reasons for flight delays and cancellations is not the plane or the weather, its that there are too many planes trying to get into one airport and there is just not enough gates and space to land planes. The message gets sent out to all incoming aircraft ahead of time and lets them know that there is already a delay and expect it to be longer.

Many people are probably thinking that having full planes is going to be bad because we all know that it can get a little stuffy on the plane. You should be thinking that a full plane is a good thing. If the plane is full than the airlines can keep their prices down because now they do not have to pay more to keep the other flight in the air. Taking one more plane out of the sky will in turn create less traffic for all inbound and outbound flights.

The only people that are going to feel a bigger squeeze than anybody else is going to be the customers who have airline mile credit cards. With less flights to pick from you are going to have to be flexible with what flights you can choose from. The airlines have started coming out with certain policies letting their air mile credit card holders only travel on certain dates. This can be a hassle for some but at least you get to use them. The airlines do not want to have somebody in a seat that used their air miles for a free flight when the plane is going to be packed. They would rather have somebody in that flight that is paying the retail price for the airline ticket.

All in all, it is a good thing that the airlines are limiting what flights are heading out of places. By doing so it will lower their jet fuel prices and will even help us out at the gas pump too. This consolidation method of flights might be a little bit for us to get used too but in the long run we would rather get on a reasonably priced flight that’s full with no delays instead of a over priced flight with delays and cancellations because of too much air traffic.
