Is Pet Sitting Right for Me?
Planning your holidays, what are we going to do with our loved pet? Being separated from your dear one is so hard. Some even think it is less agonizing to be separated from the children for a fortnight. It’s a surprise that some people think it is a pleasure when the spouse is away for a week or so on a boys holiday, no issues on what to eat and where to go out to. What pain, however, with deciding what to do with your loved pet whilst you are away on vacation .
What are the advantages of pet sitting? They fall into two parts, ones for you and those for your pet. We recognise who is the most important, so let’s start with the pet first.
Pets, particularly cats, are often skitty by nature, moving them away from their comfort zone, instantly puts them on edge, thats why cat sitting is so popular. One isn’t surprised, through evolution these animals have had their area, which they protected and mark with urine, to make it clear. They will defend this area if needed. No wonder they do not like leaving their home. What state did your pet come home in, when he was in boarding? Was he grubby? Was he thinner?
This doesn’t happen when you use pet sitting, as they are in their known home, with favourite toy and all outlooks, smells and noises they know.
Your pet will be protected and played with. The pet will not be on edge as you introduced the pet sitter to your pet.
Before and after the holiday, when stressed out with all the work to be done, all you need is the hassle to take the cat to, or collect from, the boarding place. You know the situation, you arrive home, you are tired; tons still to do. It would be nice to have your pet, but we can’t collect him until tomorrow. Pets do not like being in moving cars, with all the weird noises and odours, often upsets them. It is also more dangerous for the pet (you as well!)
Do you have problems with unreliable neighbours, friends and family? Are you not liking going to them to ask for support to do the pet sitting? With professional pet sitting they want to pet sit! They will do many things such as dog walking, tidying the yard and watering the garden. The bad guys will notice the activity and diminish the likelihood of burglary.
Do you agonize how the pet is managing whilst on holiday. Have the neighbours remembered to come round and water them, it was incredible that the rabbit dug itself out of the pen last year, over one night!
