Is It Necessary To Turn Your Cell Phone On After Landing?
Are you one of those people who turn on your cell phone as soon as the tires hit the runway? Even though you heard the pilot and flight attendants tell you to not turn on any electronics until the airplane gets to its gate. Is it that important to turn your cell phone on? Could you not wait another 2 minutes to wait until you get to the gate? Could you not wait the extra 10 minutes its going to take to de-board the airplane?
The real reason behind being told not to turn on your cell phone is not that its going to mess with communications between the pilot and the tower, its that NOBODY WANTS TO LISTEN TO YOUR STUPID CONVERSATION!!! The second you turn on your cell phone you can hear it through out the plane. All of those cell phones are turning on to their dumb ring tones. Then you feel you have to tell the person who is picking you up that you “just landed.”
The best part is that you are not at the gate yet. How many times have you landed and then not been able to make it to your gate because there was no place for the pilot to park the plane. It happens more than you think. Guess what happens now. You are going to get a phone call from the person who is circling outside of the terminal dodging the police so they do not get a ticket wondering where you are. You told them you would be 10 minutes max and now its been 20 minutes. This does not count the time you are going to need to get your bags if you checked them. So now everybody sitting next to you on the plane is going to have to listen to another one of your dumb conversations. This is not happening just once, its going to happen with half of the plane. All of those people who made that first phone call before they left the plane are now going to be involved with another phone call. The ringers are going off every where and everybody has to hear you complaining about the flight. How about you act like a adult and understand that everybody else is in the same situation you are in and deal with it.
Do everybody else on the plane a favor and do not make that all important phone call until after you have de-boarded the plane. You could do yourself an even bigger favor and wait until you have your bags in your hands. This will save you a bunch of complaining buy yourself and the person who is picking you up. If that is not going to work for you then maybe you need to cut up your airline mile credit card and never fly again. You would be doing the rest of the travelling world a favor.
