Delta Airlines Brings Wireless Internet To The Friendly Skies
Delta Airlines recently came out saying that they are going to start offering its passengers a chance to fire up that laptop and surf the internet between destinations. They are one of the first airlines to go and do this. They did not say whether or not they will be installing any auxiliary power outlets to each seat, but it would be a great help. How many times have you brought your laptop on board with you thinking its fully charged just to have it die on you 30 minutes after turning it on. It almost becomes a hassle to bring it on board with you if you know your battery does not have a long life.
Don’t think you are going to get this luxury for free. With the way the airlines have had to raise prices over the past 6 months in response to rising fuel prices. The deal with Delta is that if your flight is less than 3 hours than it will be $9.95 for the length of the flight. Anything over 3 hours and it is $12.95. It would be nice if it was just included in the price of the flight but its the only way that airlines can at least look affordable when you are buying plane tickets. Its easier for them to charge more when your own the plane instead of looking like the airline ticket that’s $50 higher than everybody elses just because you include the internet.
We can assume that Delta is doing this to provide an extra service but also to make up for the Delta SkyMiles Credit Card Program which went through a little bit of restructuring last month. There were not that many happy Delta SkyMile Credit Card holders that were happy about the changes but are too invested in the program to go anywhere else. They do not want to get a new airline mile credit card because they like the one they have. I guess Delta is trying to do something to move forward and provide some sort of luxury to its passengers and credit card holders. Other wise they might have to find another best airline mile credit card and go somewhere else.
