Commercial Airlines Start To Give Back- Is It Enough?
We are starting to experience a bit of a compromise as new federal airline passenger regulations go into effect while commercial airliners are charging increased rates for just about everything currently. There’s still a long distance to go, and for those that are still not happy, but there’s always an alternative.
While their clientele feels the pressure of higher fares in a trying economic period, commercial airliners seem to all have similar goals in mind as they continue to get ahead, giving no relief to the individuals who keep them in business as they feel the benefits. Depending on your personal preferences, executive jet charter is an ulterior means to travel, getting you the best all-around, customizable travel options, providing you an alternate way to put your hard-earned money to good use.
Partly in reaction to organizations like FlyerRights.org, a group that has battled for over a year to get the airlines to make adjustments to their policies and charges, the commercial airlines are beginning to finally make improvements to their services, making it more suitable for their clientele. Passengers who get bumped from their flights will now receive a boost in compensation for the trouble, and that’s just one big update.
Another change that will make things easier is that tarmac delays for international flights will be reduced, after finding that the Bureau of Transportation Statistics reported that more than 268 flights were delayed between 3-12 hours in June of 2009 alone. For passengers whose baggage have been lost by the airline, the last important is change that’s currently being enforced is that extra luggage charges will now be refunded. Many airlines did not offer refunds in the past, resulting in a negative impact on their customer relations and costing them much in terms of return business, though it sounds like common sense.
These are all steps in the right direction, but there’s quite a bit more on the table and a lot more at stake that still needs to be addressed. For those that don’t wish to feed in to the commercial airliners’ agendas, or avoid the issues all together, you could always go for a private aircraft charter and travel your way, regaining control of the aspects of your flight and creating a much more painless and fun experience.
Explore your choices and be certain that you have all the facts before breaking down and letting the commercial airlines come out even more ahead than they already have; change is coming and the consumers have made it vocal that they are not happy with how the airlines are treating their customers, but there are things you could do to make a difference.
