Checkpoint Friendly Laptop Computer Bags Make It A Lot Easier To Get Through Airport Security
air in the last couple of years knows|Those who have traveled by air in the last few years know] how difficult it is to get through security. Taking a laptop on board can make getting through the security checkpoint much more difficult. To eliminate security risks, passengers are required to take out their laptops from their bags and place them in a special bin for x-ray. This often will cause the line behind the person to back up, consequently making the wait even longer for everyone.
As passengers started to express their aggravation with the long lines at the security checkpoint, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) chose to make some changes. So it established a new plan in March of 2008 that would allow passengers who took laptop computers to advance thru the checkpoint without having to remove their computers from their bags. This plan called for computer bag manufacturers to design laptop carrying cases which were checkpoint friendly.
The TSA established a set of regulations for the companies to follow. These specifications are basic, but strictly enforced. First, the laptop is required to be inside a compartment by itself; absolutely nothing else can be in that compartment. The computer compartment has to be independent so it can be opened for viewing by the TSA screener and the x-ray machine. It must not have any metal zippers or other metal pieces. If a bag meets these tests, the TSA will certify it for use at all airports within the U.S.
The guidelines set by the TSA were not arbitrary. They had one over arching purpose, and that was to move passengers through the security checkpoint as fast as possible without adversely affecting the security of passengers, crew and aircraft.
If you carry a checkpoint friendly laptop bag on your next trip, you’ll be able to lower your level of frustration at the security checkpoint. It will result in a smoother transition for you, and at the same time, decrease the frustration of fellow passengers who follow you.
A survey of the market will show that there are numerous checkpoint friendly laptop case styles available. The clam shell style is one of the more popular models. This design has two storage compartments; one for the laptop and the other for all the computer gear. When you get to the security gate, all you have to do is unzip the case and put the two compartments on the conveyor belt. You won’t have to remove your laptop computer from the bag for screening.
More and more, people travel with their laptops every day. Checkpoint friendly laptop bags make airline travel just a little bit easier. There’s one more benefit which is frequently overlooked. The number of laptop computers that are lost at security checkpoints each year has been drastically lowered. Finding the right model for your needs will pay big dividends.
